The Government of Japan announced the recipients of its Autumn 2015 Decorations which include three distinguished U.S. citizens from the area under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Japan in New York.

    Decoration: The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon
    For his outstanding and lifelong contributions in promoting the cooperation and mutual understanding between Japan and the United States in the field of policing.
  • Mr. Dennis J. Morikawa
    Honorary Consul-General of Japan at Philadelphia
    Director of Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia

    Decoration: The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon
    For his outstanding contribution to promoting exchange and friendly relations between Japan and the United States.
  • Ms. Suki Terada Ports
    Vice President of the Japanese American Association of New York
    Former Co-Founder of Asian Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS

    For her outstanding contribution to the betterment of welfare for the Japanese American community in the United States.
