Anime NYC Returns & Cosplay Conquers New York City

Anime NYC Returns! Alongside Councilman Ben Kallos and Anime NYC Founder Peter Tatara, Ambassador Yamanouchi delivered the opening remarks that kicked off New York City's largest celebration of anime, manga, cosplay and… giant robots! With 2019 marking the 40th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam, the trio honored series creator, Yoshiyuki Tomino, by declaring November 15th Gundam Day!

And with an anime convention comes cosplay! Popularized in Japan, the art of transforming 2D into 3D has become a worldwide phenomenon. This weekend, thousands of anime fans from all over the world were dressed to impress as their favorite characters at AnimeNYC - passion begets fashion!
