Japan-related events in New York

MoMA will present “Orphans at MoMA: At Play - Amateurs, Animators and Avant-Grades” as part of To Save and Project: The 22nd MoMA International Festival of Film Preservation. The screening will include a presentation of Japanese Paper Films with a brief introduction by Prof. Eric Faden (Bucknell University), the founder of the Japanese Paper Film Project, and will be accompanied live by Duo YUMENO.
第22回MoMA国際映画保存フェスティバルにて日本アニメーションの源流とも言える「日本の紙フィルム」がデュオ夢乃の生演奏と共に上映される。映画研究家エリック・フェイデン教授による解説付。

“Four Seasons in New York - Gems of Japanese Music” is a concert series founded by Yamada-school koto and shamisen performer, Yoko Reikano Kimura in the fall of 2015. Since the first concert, the series has featured 65 classics from the traditional Japanese music repertoire.
山田流箏曲演奏家の木村伶香能による日本音楽コンサートシリーズ「ニューヨークの四季 - 日本音楽の彩り -」第32回公演。（共催：雪月華｜後援：邦楽ジャーナル）祝儀曲「寿くらべ」、人間国宝であった中能島欣一の知られざる名曲「神仙調」等を演奏。終演後に茶道家、森宗碧による抹茶を提供。2015年よりスタートした当シリーズでは、これまでに65曲に及ぶ箏曲の代表作を紹介。

コンサート「MFJ委嘱弦楽四重奏曲集」ミュージック・フロム・ジャパン2026年ニューヨーク音楽祭、51周年シーズンは、西洋室内楽の代表とも言える弦楽四重奏に焦点を当て、今シーズンの委嘱作品2曲と過去のMFJ委嘱曲を、モメンタ四重奏団が演奏します。若手作曲家の中村みちると柴山真太朗の新曲初演と、東京クヮルテット初演の林光曲や、クロノス・クヮルテット初演の佐藤聡明曲などが再演されます。
