
2016 JAPANESE AMERICAN LEADERSHIP DELEGATION TO JAPAN

The Consulate-General of Japan in New York is pleased to announce that the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will sponsor the 2016 Japanese American Leadership Delegation to Japan, organized by the U.S.-Japan Council. The Embassy and Consulates-General are now accepting applications from residents of the areas they serve. The Consulate-General of Japan in New York will accept applications from the residents of the following areas: Connecticut (zip codes beginning with 068 and 069), Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. (For residents outside this jurisdiction, please use the Consulate-General Guide for the U.S. to find your area’s designated office.)
OVERVIEW
The 2016 Delegation will be comprised of senior-level Japanese American leaders who are leaders in their professional fields with moderate to extensive experience in U.S.-Japan relations, and who will be committed to furthering the U.S.-Japan relationship upon their return. The 2016 Delegation seeks senior-level leaders from local, state or regional government sectors which include appointed and elected officials, entrepreneurs in areas such as science and technology, tourism, and communications such as social media.

Individual selected must be able to travel to Japan from March 5-12, 2016 and attend a mandatory orientation in Los Angeles on January 29-30, 2016.
* Deadline for receipt of applications: Friday, September 18, 2015
Application should be submitted by email, fax, or mail to the local consulate office based upon the applicant’s residence (see the list of consulate offices). For residents of Washington, D.C., applications should be submitted to the Embassy of Japan.
A duplicate copy should also be sent to the U.S.-Japan Council, 2207 Colby Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90064.
Please note "Application for the Japanese American Leadership Delegation" on the front of the envelope if you mail the application.
