In January 2006, Dr. Shunichi Homma co-founded the Japanese Medical Support Network in New York (JAMSNET) and became its first president. JAMSNET aims to provide a platform where various groups working to support the health and welfare of the Japanese people in the New York area can exchange information and coordinate their activities. For the last 10 years, Dr.Homma demonstrated strong leadership and, in cooperation with the Consulate, worked tirelessly to support the Japanese community through effectively consolidating and connecting the 23 member groups. JAMSNET is considered an exemplary model of public-private cooperation in providing support to Japanese residing in foreign countries.
