Brief Bio:
Born in Tokyo. Living in New York. Graduated from Musashino Art University Junior College
Fine Arts Department. She specializes in abstract painting with tranquility. She has also done
several live paintings and improvisational works.
In 2010, she received a commission from the South African Republic Resort Hotel, Wateline,
and produced a 7m x 1.6m abstract painting. This past March,the recorded production process
of her video "ENMAN" was nominated at the film competition "VIDEOFORMES" in
Clermont-Ferrand, Central France. She received an invitation from the organizer,and took
part in the local opening party.

Exhibition Summary:
Last summer, abstract artist Ryoko Goto, who had moved from Tokyo, exhibited her produced
works in this new cosmopolitan city, New York.
With RESOBOX Gallery in Long Island City, NY, and musicians from Manhattan's annual
Japan Block Fair (an annual street festival),a recording of her live painting was broadcasted.
In exhibit works such as "Impermanence" in which inner passion is stamped in a milky white
color, she wants to feel the fleeting things that Japan unique beauty loves.
Speaking on the relevance of New York, the serenity contained in Goto's works, can be said to
be due to the influence of Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. She wants others to see a
genealogy connecting the magnificent paintings of the experiment during the 1940-50s New
York School (abstract expressionism) with the fusion of Japanese beauty.
This exhibit's title "elegant chaos" was heard at Resobox Gallery. It was a phrase overheard
from an appreciator of Goto's art.
