- Exhibition Summary:
Sumi-e also known as Suiboku-ga, is Japanese ink brush painting. It is the application with brushes of black calligraphy ink onto special hand-made natural paper. The Sumi-e artist varies the concentration of black calligraphy ink and brush pressure to achieve nuanced tonalities and shading. The effect is ethereal and poignant, evoking both the imaginary and reality. This Sumi-e exhibition shares the artist's mastery of Sumi-e in an exhibit titled "(民話)Min-wa / Japanese Folk Tale"
