On July 24th, 2014, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced the recipients of the Minister for Foreign Affairs' Commendations for 2014, including two indivisuals and one organization from the areas where the Consulate General of Japan in New York serves: Mr. Gary S. Moriwaki, Ms. Susan J. Onuma and the Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania.

The Miniser for Foreign Affairs' Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups of outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contribution to the promotion of friendly relations between Japan and other countries.
