Achievements:
LaGuardia Community College, under the strong initiative taken by its President, Dr. Gail Mellow, and with the full support of the Consulate General of Japan in New York, has significantly contributed to the promotion of friendship between Japan and the U.S., as well as to the institutional enhancement of its Japanese programs, through the execution of the above mentioned wide range of events and endeavors.

Highly commendable is the fact that LAGCC achieved its President's Strategic Goal of instituting its Japanese program as a major in February of 2014. This outstanding accomplishment enables LAGCC students who majored in Japanese at that two year college to be accepted into a four year college as junior year-level students with Japanese studies as a major or minor.
