2013 Consul General's Commendation

The Consulate General of Japan in New York would like to announce that the 2013 Consul General's Commendation will be awarded to the following three individuals for playing exemplary roles in a variety of fields related to Japan.
- Ms. Charlotte White, Founder and Director, Salon de Virtuosi
Achievements: Exceptional contributions in promoting the performances of young Japanese musicians in New York, resulting in the advancement of cultural exchanges and friendship between Japan and the United States through Salon de Virtuosi
- Ms. Suki Terada Ports, Vice-President of JAA and Co-Founder of APICHA (Asian & Pacific Islanders Coalition on HIV/AIDS)
Achievements: Outstanding contributions in promoting the Japanese community's medical welfare in New York through the co-founding and direction of APICHA, and her ongoing, dedicated contributions to the development of the Japanese American society as a Vice-President of the Japanese American Association of New York
- Prof. Atsuko Kawashima, Head of the Japanese Studies Program in the Department of Classical and Oriental Studies, City University of New York, Hunter College
Achievements: Excellent contributions in promoting Japanese Studies in the United States through the Japanese Program of the Department of Classical and Oriental Studies at the City University of New York, Hunter College, and contributions to cultural exchanges and friendship between Japan and the United States
